In Birchington, Kent (UK), a group of Dutch investors has set up the largest horticulture project in Britain. The total plot size is 91 ha., which will ultimately feature over 50 ha of glass production greenhouses. After the Bom Group had realised projects of 9.5 and 6 ha respectively for Kaaij Greenhouses UK Ltd. and A&A Growers to their full satisfaction in 2008 (see 2008 projects), we again received the order for the greenhouse, business space and heating system. Investors in the current project are Rainbow Growers and Fresca Group Ltd. During the construction, Bom acted as Principal Contractor, in other words, all the matters concerning the strict British Health and Safety legislation were organised and coordinated by Bom. The project includes the latest High-Tech Dutch know-how and features growing lights, so that the British market can be supplied year-round.
