Italy has the policy to convert a big share of the use of electricity to green electricity. A good kW price was given for green electricity produced at the roof of greenhouses by means of pv panels.
The Bom Group designed a special roof for this market. The Gazzo project built with this system was in combination with the Italian company New Invents. A 1 hectares greenhouse was realized in the village of Gazzo near Venice in the north of Italy. Around 65% of the surface has been covered with PV panels. The production is +/- 0,5 mW per year. The pv panels are southwards directed in order to maximize the benefits from the sun. Although the pv panel takes more than 50% of the available lightradiation; the lightconditions in that area are that good that lettuce can be grown inside the greenhouse. So it is greenhouse with two streams of income!
